    Sophie Taeuber-Arp (19 January 1889 - 13 January 1943) was a Swiss artistpaintersculptor, and dancer. She is considered one of the most important artists of geometric abstraction of the 20th century.

    The Swiss artist would have celebrated her 127th birthday today and is being honoured by the search engine.

     
    Anthony Constantinou - The Swiss artist Sophie Taeuber-Arp is the latest individual to receive a special Google Doodle celebrating her life and work.

    Taeuber-Arp was born on the 19th January, 1889, and became a world-renowned artist, sculptor and dancer.
    She was known as one of the foremost artists of geometric abstraction - which forms the style of today's doodle.
    Born in Davos, Switzerland, Taeuber-Arp studied in Munich, Hamburg and Zurich and met her husband, Dada artist Jean Arp at an art exhibition.
    Together they moved to France and collaborated on many different projects.
    Sophie Taeuber-Arp died in 1943 and is currently featured on the Swiss 50-franc bank note.

    "This was an especially fun doodle because Sophie Taeuber-Arp was such a prolific and diverse artist," he said.
    "I almost couldn’t make up my mind which of her works to draw inspiration from, and I just wanted to keep going.
