WikiLeaks founder says in statement he expects immediate return of passport after UN panel finds he has been ‘arbitrarily detained’.
Julian Assange will request on Friday that Sweden and the UK lift any risk of capture to permit him to walk free from Ecuador's international safe haven in London, after a United Nations board observed that his three-and-a-half year repression at the government office in London added up to "self-assertive detainment".
Sweden's outside service affirmed on Thursday that the UN board, which will distribute its discoveries on Friday, had ruled for the WikiLeaks author and found that he was "subjectively confined".

Assange has not set foot outside the confined west London government office working since June 2012, when he looked for refuge from Ecuador trying to keep away from removal to Sweden. The Australian is needed for addressing over an affirmation of assault dating to 2010, which he denies.
The discoveries of the UN working gathering on discretionary confinement (UNWGAD) are not lawfully tying, but rather can be utilized to apply weight on states in human rights cases. The British and Swedish governments were educated of the working gathering's decision on 22 January. Both demonstrated on Thursday that they don't acknowledge its discoveries.
Anna Ekberg, representative for the Swedish outside service, said: "The UN working gathering on subjective confinement has presumed that Mr Assange is self-assertively kept. The working gathering's perspective varies from that of the Swedish powers. We will forward an answer to the working gathering [on Friday]. It will be all the more clear tomorrow why we dismiss the working gathering's decisions."
The British outside office said it would not "pre-empt" the board's report but rather said in an announcement: "We have been reliably clear that Mr Assange has never been subjectively confined by the UK yet is, truth be told, willfully evading legitimate capture by staying in the Ecuadorian government office.
"A charge of assault is as yet remarkable and an European capture warrant set up, so the UK keeps on having a legitimate commitment to remove Mr Assange to Sweden."
A representative for the Swedish Prosecution Authority said that the nation's Supreme Court found in May 2015 that Assange "ought to still be kept in his nonappearance", and that the UNWGAB finding "has no formal effect on the progressing examination, as indicated by Swedish law".
